In Riverside, The Mission Inn Festival of Lights runs through Jan. 6.
And to think that it was in 1903, 100 years ago, that General Electric began selling Christmas-light kits. The idea that came from Edward H. Johnson of the Thomas Edison's Illumination Company, who in 1882, hand-wired 80 small red, white and blue electric bulbs to a single power cord and arranged them on his Christmas tree, according to the Library of Congress.
