I'm breaking radio silence to say a quick hello to those wandering in from the LA Times article “A vibrant voice chronicles the renaissance of downtown LA," a surprise that came about after meeting up with Times staffer Larry Harnish for pie and coffee. I'll admit I like being called a humorist.
Having done profiles about downtowners here, formerly at blogdowntown, and currently at KCET’s Departures, it was interesting to be on the other side of the quill and see how a story like this evolved in a very short time.
I could be quippy and say it must have been a slow news day to cover a blogger taking a break from writing everyday. Instead, let me say thanks to Larry for thinking it was an interesting enough story to pitch and to the editors for giving the green light.
As for immediate reactions, extended family are beginning to call me Ciclón de Cuz, roughly translating to The Cyclone Cousin. That makes it tempting to design a lucha libre mask to wear next time I'm out in the streets of downtown L.A. Say hello if you see me.
